Who We Are

MMSS is a national level development organisation directly benefitting many children and their families every year, through welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood and environment, in many remote citys,villages and slums across various states of India.

Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one's rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen.

Our mission is to serve and act on behalf of the needs, rights and well-being of all young children with primary focus on the provision of educational and developmental services and resources. The organization is founded on the firm belief that education is the fundamental right of every child and no child should be deprived of this basic right simply because he/she does not have access to it or does not have the resources to realize his/her dreams.

We believe in a societal mission where citizens come together to ensure that India’s children have a better future. The organization is based on a triangular partnership: the government, the corporate sector and the citizens. In many cities, the corporate leaders have taken the lead, the government has responded by opening its schools and sharing its facilities, and the community volunteers, mostly young enthusiastic women from slums, help implement the our programs. We also firmly believes in working with the government to bring about large scale and rapid changes. The programs therefore aim to supplement and not supplant the governmental efforts in universalizing primary education.

We supports education and literacy projects predominantly in the rural and remote areas across various states of India. Our philosophy is to work with people of all age-groups and to educate & empower the local communities.

The scope of our projects includes one or more of the below:

1.Enrollment of out-of-school children 2.Retention of children in school 3.Non-formal education programs for children and youth who cannot go to school 4.Supplemental methods to improve quality of learning 5.Life coping skills and livelihood training for young adults 6.Functional literacy and livelihood training for adults

UnitingCare Children’s Services has a long history of providing early education services. We recognise that learning in the early years of a child’s life lays the foundation for future knowledge and development. Our services implement the Early Years Learning Framework and our educators work with families and children to achieve the 5 Learning Outcomes:

  • • Children have a strong sense of identity
  • • Children are connected with and contribute to their world
  • • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
  • • Children are confident and involved learners
  • • Children are effective communicators

Regular observations of children’s development, both individually and in group settings, enables the educators to plan experiences which progress children’s development in each of the 5 outcomes. Children’s learning is documented in journals and portfolios and visual records are also available for family members and children to view, discuss and make suggestions.
